The performance is a silent and poignant condolence. People die from Covid-19, and the survivors have no way to say goodbye. The trace of the deceased is lost, the place of the grave is and remains forever untraceable.
Vetunjona Uarije is known as West or "African Black Cat." He is a dancer, dance teacher, choreographer and founder of a small studio in Havana, an informal settlement near Windhoek (Namibia). The artist about his performance at The Virtual Hat:
"Right now I'm struggling financially to support my mother and be able to pay bills because she has kidney disease and cancer."
